Brighton – Here’s to new beginnings

Have you ever been to a new place and it’s like you come back as a new person?

Refreshed and happy, like you have a new purpose in life, that feeling where you truly believe you could conquer the world

That’s what Brighton did for me

I think it’s the fresh air and the sea breeze, the artwork and photography that is littered about by new and aspiring students, and the positive vibe that radiates from everybody around you

fullsizeoutput_f56.jpegWhatever it is, it’s made me realise that — however clichĂ© this sounds — the whole point of being on this earth, of existence, is to find happiness, to pursue whatever you want to do and achieve whatever you wish.

That it’s okay to take some time out for yourself, to be selfish, to forget about others for a while

Just enjoy life, and notice the little things like sunsets and pretty skies, like your favourite flowers or colours, sounds or smells, anything. Just enjoy it, live life to the full and ALWAYS remember why you’re here

The first 2016 summer get away!

There’s beauty around every corner

The poetry of earth is never dead

The earth always has music for those who will listen

Some see a weed, some see a wish

Collect moments, not things

Summer ambitions

Hey hey guys!

I’ve been gone for a really long time, but I promise I have a good excuse.. it’s exam season for English students.

But anyway, enough about that, I’m back now for sure!

It’s getting to that time of year again,

Days get longer,

Hair gets lighter,

Skin gets darker,

It’s finally summer!

Don’t get me wrong I love winter, I love snow, but there comes a time when it’s just nice to get up to some sunshine.

In light of the new nice weather, I thought I’d put together a small list of things I want to do over the summer;

  1. Actually commit to this blog!…
  2. Take a good picture everyday when I go somewhere new
  3. Try at least one new food or drink
  4. Write down 3 things I am grateful for everyday
  5. Re-read the Harry Potter books
  6. Make some new friends
  7. Try and bake more often
  8. Get back into writing, novels and poetry
  9. Pick the guitar back up
  10. Do something spontaneous

My inspiration and happy places!

Everybody has their places where they feel safe, happy, comforted, a home away from home if you will. Be it a family members home, a boyfriend or girlfriend or best friend, a foreign country, a hotel that you visit every year. Well mine, is Scotland, that’s right, cold, rainy, Scotland.

Many people think it’s always raining, but even when it is it looks beautiful, and when it isn’t it’s even more of a sight, a hidden gem.

I find my ideas, my inspiration in the peacefulness of the countryside.

The friendly animals, the red squirrels -a beauty compared to the grey vermin you see in the city- that eat out of your hands, the haggis, of course, in the mountain side and the sheep in the roads.

All of it, it’s so different from what you see everyday, unless you live there…

And so I ask you, where is your happy place? Where do you find your inspiration and ideas?
